Some people think they don’t need a waterproof mattress protector until their baby starts solids or potty training. This couldn’t be further from the truth. 

Diapers leak often, especially when they don’t fit well or get too full.  In fact, leaks are often the first indication that you’re using the wrong size, not tying the diaper properly, or that the baby is too cold. 

Leaks aside, some babies just spit up more or suffer from reflux that can soak into their bedding. You will need a mattress protector that’s waterproof and breathable for your bassinet, cradle, or Moses basket, as well as for your crib and playard.
